SMART DEVICE POS to Feature Phone Payment
USE CASE DESCRIPTION
Enabling a simple 1-step (micropayment) OR 2-step (PIN payment) between a Merchant (payee) and a Customer (payer), where the Merchant has a Smartphone and the Customer a Feature Phone.
TEST INSTRUCTIONS (ASEAN REGION):
Choose an Android Smartphone to represent the Merchant POS (payee) and a Feature Phone the Customer Handset (payer). Then download and install the DIALR APK (ASEAN Region) for the Android Smartphone here.
After installation ensure that the Android Smartphone has a stable internet connection, and register the app as requested.
Once done use the following steps to test the solution:
STEP 1 (with the "Merchant" Handset)
Open the DIALR Application, enter the Payment Amount due under the "Request Payment" tab, and click the "REQUEST DIAL-TO-PAY" button, upon which the remote server will begin broadcasting a QR Code Sound File.
STEP 2 (with the "Customer" Handset)
Dial +65 3135 1321 and hold the handset near the Merchant Handset while it broadcasts the QR Code sound file. NOTE: when entering a payment amount due of 20# ($20) or more, the customer handset will ring with IVR (voice instructions) to enter a demo PIN 0000 before STEP 3 happens.
Both Merchant and Customer handsets receive their respective text-based transaction receipts.
NOTES & DISCLAIMER
Smart Devices use Internet communication by default, and where unavailable the app can be configured to automatically dial into bank servers using traditional voice channels. Feature Phones use voice channel communication by default, without requiring software.
Long distances between DIALR servers and the location of testing parties can increase latency.
DIALR Servers can be deployed in closer proximity to potential customers to guarantee near-instant transaction speeds when/where required.
